First ‘Come Together’ event: Integration through sport

Invitation on 23 September, 1 pm to 6 pm, Stadtwirtschaft, Jakobstraße 46

On Wednesday 23 September, from 1 pm to 6 pm, the City of Chemnitz’s Integration Network invites anyone interested to the first ‘Come Together’ event at the Stadtwirtschaft, Jakobstraße 46.

Under the motto ‘Integration through Sport’, the event brings together people, clubs, organisations and advice centres and, in keeping with the Chemnitz Intercultural Weeks, transforms the Stadtwirtschaft into a place for meeting, exchanging ideas and sharing experiences. Admission is free; no registration is required.

Media representatives are also invited.

Sport brings people together – regardless of their origin, age, language or personal background. ‘Come Together’ focuses in particular on people with a migration background and their children who would like to discover the wide range of opportunities for sport and social engagement in Chemnitz.

Following the official opening, visitors can look forward to a varied programme. Throughout the afternoon, there will be talks on the theme of integration through sport, complemented by artistic performances that will provide entertainment and create a lively atmosphere.

Outside, numerous sports clubs and organisations from Chemnitz will be showcasing their activities. Through accessible hands-on activities and various workshops, people of all ages can discover different sports, get active themselves and easily make new friends.

There will also be plenty of opportunity to exchange information: indoors, numerous advice centres, clubs and organisations will be manning stands to provide details of their services. As well as leisure and sporting opportunities, topics relating to support and social participation will also be covered.

The ‘Come Together’ 2026 aims to provide practical guidance and answer questions such as: Which sports clubs are there in Chemnitz, and which one is right for me or my child? What options are there for receiving financial support to take part in club sports? How can I become a coach in a club myself? How can I get involved as a volunteer? Where can I find a suitable women’s sports group? What free sports and exercise activities are available in Chemnitz?

The aim is for ‘Come Together’ not just to be a one-off event, but to create access, break down barriers and foster lasting connections between people and the city’s diverse range of activities.

There will be numerous international food trucks on site. Food and drinks will be available on a pay-as-you-go basis.

All information about the programme and the event is available online at www.chemnitz.de/ct2026.
