Fire protection measures in the town hall

At its meeting today, Chemnitz City Council decided to carry out extensive fire safety construction work at Chemnitz City Hall.

In order to further improve fire protection and safety in the Old and New City Hall and to ensure the escape and rescue route situation, the fire alarm system, the voice alarm system, the safety lighting and the other technical requirements in accordance with current regulations, retrofitting is required. The basis for this is the fire protection concept dated 4 September 2018.

The fire protection requirements are always subject to further new findings and specifications that have not yet been fully implemented in the Old and New Town Halls. The current fire protection in the entire town hall is subject to grandfathering.

The planned construction work will take place from mid-May 2020 during ongoing town hall operations with temporary protective measures, such as dust protection walls, etc., and is expected to be completed by the end of May 2021.

The costs total 1.32 million euros.
