Fire brigades practise forest fire response
Invitation for media representatives on site in Grüna Forest / Totenstein on Saturday, 15 September, 08:00 a.m.
This Saturday morning, the professional fire brigade of the city of Chemnitz, together with the volunteer fire brigades of Grüna, Mittelbach, Siegmar and Rabenstein, will be practising the operation of a forest fire in the forest area around the Totenstein.
In the exercise scenario, four units of the fire brigades with 55 firefighters and two special vehicles will be deployed. The outbreak of a forest fire from an initially unexplained cause is to be simulated. The fire is reported by a group of mushroom pickers who lose their bearings in the forest due to the smoke and have to be located and rescued by the rescue services. The exercise focuses, among other things, on the difficult supply of extinguishing water in the forest area, locating and rescuing the group of collectors and the use of modern technology in the coordinating control centre.
Note for the media: The exercise can be accompanied by journalists and photographers. Jens Nestler can be contacted on 0371 / 488 3722 and 0171 5505929 for advance arrangements and contact on the day of the exercise.
