Fire brigade height rescuers at the forefront of performance comparison
Last weekend, the Frankfurt am Main fire brigade organised the 10th national performance comparison of the height rescue teams of the professional fire brigades. After the Chemnitz professional fire brigade organised the performance comparison last year and competed outside the classification, the aim last weekend was to complete the demanding tasks of this year's competition as quickly and faultlessly as possible. The bottom line was an excellent 4th place for the Chemnitz team.
14 height rescue teams from all over Germany took part in the competition. The tasks to be mastered included Shaft rescue (over 5 storeys), rope ascent in team strength (15 m), person rescue on a façade (lead climb and person takeover), a task announced as a surprise exercise turned out to be a "knot ride" over the Radeberger Haken.
With a total time of 38 minutes to complete all the exercises, the Berlin fire brigade team came out on top. Behind the teams of the professional fire brigades from Hanover and Hamburg, the Chemnitz height rescue team came fourth with a total time of 44 minutes, beating the height rescue teams from Magdeburg, Stuttgart, Kiel, Leipzig, Erfurt, Oldenburg, Essen, Bochum, Düsseldorf and Aachen, among others.
