Finnish students on an internship in Chemnitz
EU office of the city welcomes guests on Monday, 17 March, 2 p.m., in the town hall
Four young Finnish students from the Lappia Vocational College in Kemi are completing an internship in Chemnitz from 17 March to 25 April. This is made possible by Bildungs-Werkstatt Chemnitz gGmbH, which trains young skilled workers for a successful future with customised support services. The Finns studying in Lapland in the north-west of Finland will arrive in Chemnitz on Saturday, 15 March to get to know the city better.
On Monday, 17 March, the students will first be welcomed by Tina Butterbrodt, Coordinator for International Projects and Additional Qualifications, in a Welcome Meeting, where they will receive information about the Bildungs-Werkstatt and will also be given a tour of the workshops themselves. On Monday afternoon at 2 p.m., Pia Sachs and Katja Kluge from the City of Chemnitz EU Office will invite the Finnish guests to the City Hall and inform them about the city's EU work and the history of Chemnitz at a meeting. The meeting will take place in the Old Library on the first floor of the Town Hall. The reception will be rounded off by a guided tour of the town hall with tower keeper Stefan Weber from 3.00 pm.
Representatives of the media are cordially invited to attend both events.
On Tuesday, 18 March, the Finnish students will begin their internships in Chemnitz, partly in the Bildungs-Werkstatt, but also directly in companies in and around Chemnitz. According to the EU centre, the students will primarily be working in the field of welding. A Finnish teacher will support the students in the first few days when they visit the premises of the Bildungs-Werkstatt and some of the companies offering work experience in Chemnitz.
