Financial support for recognised independent youth welfare organisation BIK e.V.
At its meeting today, the City Council approved financial support for the recognised independent youth welfare organisation Berliner Institut für Kleinkindpädagogik und familienbegleitende Kinderbetreuung BIK e.V. (Berlin Institute for Early Childhood Education and Family Childcare). The organisation will receive a grant of 250,000 euros for the complete renovation of the outdoor area of the Ludwigstraße 12 daycare centre, consisting of 125,000 euros from the City of Chemnitz's own funds and 125,000 euros in funding from the Free State of Saxony.
The money will be used to remodel the worn-out courtyard and garden areas. Reusable play equipment and garden sheds will be replaced by new play elements and planting in suitable locations. A play area for toddlers up to the age of 3 is to be created on the existing courtyard area. New play areas are to be created with additional lawns. Covered seating areas with sun protection will be created on the building. The existing access road to the site will be removed, a scooter track will be created and a climbing and balancing area and a new sand play area with sun protection and palisade edging will be built. In addition, a ball playground with a catch fence will be built.
Construction is scheduled to begin in the second half of July 2020. Completion is planned for December 2020.
