On Thursday, 2 October at 6 pm, interested parties are invited to a film evening with discussion in the TIETZ, VHS course room 4.07. The documentary film "Die Unbeugsamen" (2021) by director Torsten Körner will be shown. The film gives a voice to women of the Bonn Republic who did not want to leave politics to men alone and fought courageously and self-confidently for their political commitment. In the subsequent discussion, the role of women in politics in the past decades in East and West will be debated.

The film portrays twelve female politicians from the old Federal Republic who literally had to fight for their participation in democratic decision-making processes. It deliberately takes their perspective. Female politicians from different generations have their say, including Rita Süssmuth (CDU), Helga Schuchardt (FDP), Renate Schmidt (SPD), Ursula Männle (CSU), Ingrid Matthäus-Maier (FDP/SPD) and Christa Nickels (The Greens). Their memories are sometimes funny and bitter, absurd and sometimes frighteningly topical. Historical footage also shows political pioneers such as Aenne Brauksiepe (CDU), Hildegard Hamm-Brücher (FDP), Waltraud Schoppe and Petra Kelly (The Greens).
The film evening is the second part of a series of events at the adult education centre: in April 2025, a portrait of East German women was shown with the documentary film "Die Unbeugsamen 2: Guten Morgen, ihr Schönen!".
