On Saturday, 8 November at 4 pm and 7.30 pm and on Sunday, 9 November at 4 pm, interested parties are invited to a special concert by the Municipal Music School in the event hall at Kraftwerk e. V., Kaßbergstraße 36. With "C the Centuries - a revue in sound and vision", the music school is celebrating its 75th anniversary and, in keeping with the motto "C the Unseen", also the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025.
Tickets cost €15 at the box office and €9 at the evening box office (children up to the age of 18, Chemnitz Pass holders, trainees and students). Advance tickets cost €14.50 or €8.50 for concessions and can be purchased at the administration office of the Municipal Music School during office hours or by making an individual appointment by emailing musikschule(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
The special concert "C the Centuries" rolls out the red carpet for the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 with music, dance and a wide range of information. The actor, lecturer and consultant for musical theatre, Matthias Bega, has worked with numerous teachers and students from the Municipal Music School to create this revue, which delves into Chemnitz's multifaceted contemporary history. The character of Zeitgeist takes us on a journey through the city's history - starting with its origins in 1143. Ensembles from the Municipal Music School accompany the journey through time with music from different centuries. The musical highlight of the revue will be a performance by the Gruppa Karl-Marx-Stadt together with the pop string players.
The Chemnitz Municipal Music School is also using the revue as an opportunity to celebrate its own anniversary: 75 years of music school for everyone! The concert therefore promises to be not only a cultural and informative experience, but also a tribute to the long tradition of musical education in Chemnitz.
