Federal volunteers meet European volunteers
Invitation to the press event: 27 February, 10 a.m., City Hall, Grüner Salon
On Monday, 27 February at 10 a.m., the EU Coordinator of the City of Chemnitz, Pia Sachs, will welcome participants in the Federal Voluntary Service and the European Solidarity Corps. The aim of the meeting is to provide information about the city's history and European work.
Representatives of the media are invited to attend. In addition to photos, there will also be the opportunity to interview the participants.
After a presentation on the city and its European work, Christian Knaack from the Generation team of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 will provide information on the plans and opportunities for the Capital of Culture year. Afterwards, the guests were given a guided tour of the town hall to gain an insight into the history of Chemnitz.
During the meeting, the volunteers will have the opportunity to socialise and share experiences of their various services in Chemnitz and the surrounding area.
The federal volunteers perform their service at various locations in Chemnitz (Schauplatz Eisenbahn, Kita Glückskäfer, Salute e.V.) or in the Chemnitz region, for example in Limbach-Oberfrohna (Advent Kita, DRK social centre, DRK nursing home) or in facilities in Thalheim and Hartmannsdorf. The volunteers and their places of work are supervised and supported by Kindervereinigung Sachsen e.V..
Two women are working at solaris FZU, which acts as a host organisation for the European Solidarity Corps, an Erasmus Plus initiative of the European Union. They come from Hungary and Spain. Michelle Lavado Carrillera supports the day-care centre at the Valentina Tereschkowa primary school, which is part of the Kappelino children's and family centre. Kira Meszaros works on various international projects at solaris FZU and in the area of public relations. Federal volunteer Alexander Sulitskiy is involved in youth work at the Chemnitz multi-generational centre and supports communication with Ukrainian refugees, among other things.
