Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan: Lord Mayor welcomes Signals for the expansion of the Chemnitz - Leipzig railway line

The long-distance railway lines in Saxony, including the Chemnitz - Leipzig link, are to be included in the draft Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan following the conclusion of the public participation process. Following talks with Federal Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt, Minister President Stanislaw Tillich said today that there were signals in favour of this.

Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "If the signals are correct, then all stakeholders in the entire region and across all parties would have succeeded in achieving the almost impossible, namely changes to the government draft of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan.

Now, however, all stakeholders need to keep at it until the Bundestag has actually made its decision on the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan and the projects have been adopted in corresponding expansion laws."
