Federal President signs the Golden Book of the City of Chemnitz
During his visit to Chemnitz on 1 November, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier signed the Golden Book of the City of Chemnitz at Chemnitz City Hall in the presence of Mayor Barbara Ludwig.
The Federal President thanked the Mayor for inviting him to Chemnitz.
"Chemnitz is a city of science, business and culture. I have come to talk not about, but with the people. Because I believe we need dialogue. We don't need it at a distance, but by talking to each other.
We are here to enter into dialogue with very different citizens who are involved in the city on a voluntary or economic basis, but also with citizens who are dissatisfied, including with the refugee policy.
I hope that the public image of this city will be corrected again and that people will talk about what makes this city special, what makes living together and living in this city attractive for many people in the city."
