Federal competition "Jugend musiziert": Prizewinners honoured
Four music students from Chemnitz are among the Saxon prizewinners of the 2022 "Jugend musiziert" national competition. Saxony's Minister of Culture Barbara Klepsch congratulated them together with the President of the Saxon Music Council Prof Milko Kersten yesterday evening at Albrechtsberg Castle in Dresden.
Anna-Lena Kreher won first prize in the accordion solo category. Laura Valeria Graichen was awarded 2nd prize in the vocal pop category. Josefine Lehmann, piano, and Rahel Quellmalz, flute, also won 2nd prize in the duo category: piano and a woodwind instrument. Kalin Todorov, who also won a 2nd prize in the solo cello category, also played in the celebratory concert in which some of the prizewinners presented their performances.
A total of 197 young musicians from Saxony took part in the "Jugend musiziert" 2022 national competition this year. 16 soloists and eleven ensembles from Saxony won first prizes in their categories.
The national competition took place over eight days in Oldenburg at Whitsun. More than 2,300 young musicians from all over Germany and from 35 German schools abroad took part.
This was preceded by the regional competitions in the federal states, in Saxony from 25 March to 10 April in Chemnitz, Dresden, Hoyerswerda, Leipzig and Zwickau with a total of 664 pupils. Of these, 45 young artists from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School were judged by the expert juries. 19 of them received the rating "Participated with outstanding success". Six students qualified for the national competition.
