"Favourite places for everyone"

Funding for the removal of barriers - extension of the application period until 22 December 2017

Since 2014, the Free State of Saxony has been funding investments to remove barriers under the motto "Favourite places for everyone". Back in September, the city's social services department announced that this funding - totalling 177,700 euros for Chemnitz - was once again available.

The programme provides funding for up to 100 percent of the costs if the project does not cost more than 25,000 euros. In addition to non-profit initiatives, tradespeople are also eligible.

The measures are intended to make it possible for EVERYONE to use any restaurant, go to the cinema without restrictions, visit a museum or actively participate in sports in a club. Many of these facilities are not yet accessible or fully usable for wheelchair users, for example, or information is not understandable for the hearing and visually impaired or people with learning difficulties.

The original deadline was 1 December. To ensure that the funding in the city of Chemnitz can be fully utilised, the Social Welfare Office is extending the application deadline to 22 December 2017.

Forms and further information can be obtained from the Social Welfare Office, Senior Citizens and Disability Assistance Department/Local Care Authority by calling 488-5020 or sending an email to ina.platzer(at)stadt-chemnitz.de.
