FamilyApp Chemnitz launched
The FamilyApp Chemnitz was launched today during the children's conference in the town hall(www.familienapp-chemnitz.de). Families, teenagers and young adults can find leisure, education and support services conveniently on their mobile phones.
The digital platform is the first of its kind in Saxony. The advice section contains information on local offers by age (pregnancy to young adults) as well as numerous accompanying topics such as health or education, making it easier to find what you are looking for than searching on individual websites. News, emergency numbers and a download and video area round off the FamilyApp Chemnitz.
The calendar of events, which is also included, will specifically advertise youth and family events from now on, in the Capital of Culture year 2025 and beyond. 78 registered organisers - independent providers, external partners and also commercial providers in the leisure sector - currently offer 1164 events.
Mayor Dagmar Ruscheinsky: "The need for bundled, easily accessible help has been brought to our attention via several channels for some time, be it in the Youth Welfare Office, in the area of health prevention or in the field of social services. We responded by creating the FamilienApp Chemnitz, a modern and easily accessible platform where Chemnitz residents can find information and support in various life situations."
The introduction of a family app was decided by the youth welfare committee in January of this year. Subsequently, the Youth Welfare Office, the Office for Health and Prevention, the Social Welfare Office, the Sports Office, the Education Office and the Press Office of the City of Chemnitz as well as the Youth Employment Agency worked on the content and design.
From 6 to 20 August 2024, Chemnitz residents were invited to vote for a suitable icon for the family app in a participatory process. 1,300 votes were cast. The winning icon now serves as a recognisable symbol on the user interface of the FamilyApp and as the app's start button on mobile phones.
No download from the app store is required; the web-based application can be opened as a website www.familienapp-chemnitz.de and simply saved to the home screen.
