Intervention area of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 - Inauguration with pyramid launch on 26 November
On Saturday, 26 November at 5 p.m., the new festival square in Euba will be officially opened in the presence of Mayor of Construction Michael Stötzer as one of 17 public squares that will be implemented as part of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. This will take place on the occasion of the traditional pyramid pushing and the Christmas market. The public squares are part of the intervention areas of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, eight of which are initiated by citizens' platforms and eight others by the local authorities.

Construction started on schedule at the beginning of September. However, the unusually cold weather and prolonged rain led to cost increases and delays in the construction process. Due to the current bottlenecks, it has not yet been possible to connect the power supply, as the power connection box is not available. Nevertheless, with a great deal of commitment and close dialogue between the local council and the civil engineering department as well as the municipal civil engineering yard, the conditions were created for the opening event, which begins at 2 pm.
The fairground covers 3,000 square metres and measures 50 by 60 metres with two access roads. The superstructure of the fairground area has been completed down to the top layer and a stand for the Christmas tree has been installed.
The completion of the drainage channels, the surface (top layer) and the development of the already installed WC container will take place after the Christmas market. Tree planting is also planned on both sides of the field and on the street side to frame the square. Full completion of the square is planned for spring 2023. Total costs of around 230,000 euros are currently expected.
