Extraordinary provision of funds for winter road clearance services approved
At its meeting today, the city council decided to provide additional funds totalling around 380,000 euros for winter road maintenance in 2021.
Winter 2021 was exceptionally harsh, both at the beginning of the year and into April, as well as in November and December. In total, more than 166,000 kilometres of driving, gritting and clearing were covered by winter services.
By comparison, the average for the years 2015 to 2020 was around 80,000 kilometres.
According to the ASR's current calculations, the total expenditure for winter services in 2021 amounted to 4.9 million euros as at 31 December 2021.
An annual service agreement is concluded with the City of Chemnitz's waste disposal and city cleaning company for the provision of winter services, among other things. This has an annual term from 1 January to 31 December.
