Extraordinary provision of funds for construction measures at child day-care centres

At its meeting today, the city council approved the allocation of additional funds totalling EUR 299,555 for the "Complete renovation of the Liddy-Ebersberger-Straße 2 daycare centre" construction project.

In September 2017, construction work began on the complete refurbishment of the Liddy-Ebersberger-Straße 2 property. Due to cost developments in the construction industry in the meantime, there is an additional financial requirement compared to the cost calculation from 2015, which must be covered.

In addition to the general increase in costs, unplanned work on the existing property has also become necessary, which is also causing additional costs. For example, contaminated soil was found in the ground that required special disposal. In addition, manual excavations had to be carried out. Existing drainage pipes could no longer be repaired and had to be replaced. An alarm system, which was not initially planned, had to be installed after an increasing number of break-ins. The theft of pipes that had already been laid and the associated re-laying and repair of burglary damage to windows also caused additional costs.

The additional expenses can be covered by replacing own funds with additional funding totalling EUR 299,555 for the complete renovation of the Fritz-Fritzsche-Straße 55/57 daycare centre. The same source of cover will also be used to provide additional funds for the refurbishment of the Max-Türpe-Straße 40/42 daycare centre in the amount of EUR 260,742.
