Extraordinary funds approved for the Müllerstraße/Nordstraße construction project

At its meeting today, the city council decided to provide unscheduled funds totalling 530,000 euros for the Müllerstraße/Nordstraße construction measures.

The coordinated construction project is being carried out by the City of Chemnitz's civil engineering department, the utility company eins and the city's waste disposal company (ESC). The total costs amount to approx. 1.7 million euros.

In addition to the City of Chemnitz's previously estimated share of costs of approx. 480,000 euros, there are also costs for local construction supervision, site management, SIGE coordination and surveying totalling approx. 50,000 euros. Accordingly, a financial requirement of 530,000 euros is currently assumed.

The coordinated construction project under the leadership of the city's waste disposal company (ESC) comprises the following individual projects: The ESC is having the sewerage system, including the connecting sewers, replaced. At the same time, the carriageway between Promenadenstrasse and Nordstrasse is being renewed on behalf of the City of Chemnitz's traffic and civil engineering department using the city's own funds. In addition, dilapidated street drains will be replaced and the "Promenadenstraße" bus stop directly in front of the AOK building will be made barrier-free. The utility company eins is laying empty conduits for Elt, replacing MV and LV cables, replacing lighting masts and relocating a gas pipeline.
