Extensive construction work completed at two privately-run daycare centres
Kita Stadlerstraße 10 and Kita Am Harthwald 128 will be ready to welcome children and carers again from 6 January 2014
At the end of 2013, two extensive construction projects were completed in two privately-run daycare centres, funded by the City of Chemnitz and the federal and state governments: At the Stadler Straße 10 daycare centre and the Am Harthwald 128 daycare centre, the construction measures were planned, prepared and implemented by the owners of the facilities with the support of the city's Office for Youth and Family. The work will now be completed, with the exception of some remaining work to be carried out at the beginning of the new year, so that both facilities will once again be available to the girls and boys being cared for here from 6 January 2014.
During the construction and renovation work, the children were looked after in the alternative daycare centre at Johannes-Dick-Straße 55.
About the Stadlerstraße 10 daycare centre: Stadlerstraße 10 is run by the Chemnitz association Kinder, Jugend und Familie (KJF e.V.). Construction of the complete refurbishment, including the outdoor area, began on 15 November 2012.
The total construction costs amount to 1,349,840 euros. This project was subsidised by the federal and state
Saxony in the amount of 524,405 euros. The KJF contributed 15,000 euros of its own funds as well as a considerable amount of personal contributions. In addition to the construction costs, these sums also include the planning services.
About the daycare centre Am Harthwald 128: The facility Am Harthwald 128 is run by the Arbeiterwohlfahrt Chemnitz (AWO). Construction work on the energy-efficient refurbishment of the building's outer shell and building services began on 7 November 2012.
The total costs for this project amount to 1,550,518 euros. Federal and state subsidies totalling 561,381 euros were also used here. The AWO took on part of the work itself in addition to being the client. The total construction costs shown for this property also
