Extension of the Chemnitz - Leipzig railway line Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan
Statement by Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig
The Federal Cabinet today approved the new Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030 (BVWP). This includes the expansion of the Chemnitz - Leipzig railway line in the so-called potential demand.
Lord Mayor Barbara Ludwig: "This means that the almost impossible has been achieved, namely changes to the draft of the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan. With the inclusion in the potential demand, there is now finally a realistic chance that Chemnitz will once again have an efficient connection to long-distance transport, as a major city and an economic region of this importance deserves.
Now it is time for all stakeholders to keep at it until the Bundestag has made its decision on the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan and the projects are actually launched."
