Extension of the access road to the "Heimaterde" allotment site
Construction work in the Ebersdorf district begins next week
The expansion of the access road to the "Heimaterde" allotment site in the Ebersdorf district is scheduled to begin next week with the felling and clearing work. Preparations for the construction work, such as obtaining authorisations and ordering materials, have already begun. Subject to weather conditions, the main construction work is scheduled to start at the beginning of March and the main elements are to be completed by mid-May.
Over a length of approx. 125 metres, the existing carriageway is to be fundamentally upgraded and widened to 4.10 metres. Following the installation of new base courses, the carriageway will be constructed as an asphalt surface in two layers. The surface water from the new carriageway will be drained in a controlled manner into the adjacent wooded strips and agricultural areas. For the new carriageway width, the existing hedge in the north-eastern area along the KGA must be cleared and the wire mesh fence removed. On the opposite side, eight trees (not protected under the tree protection statutes) will have to be felled. Once the new carriageway has been installed, a new 55-metre-long privacy fence will be installed in the upper section along the garden area using a combined construction method - metal posts with wooden cladding.
The expansion of the access road is intended to improve the accessibility of the "Heimaterde" allotment garden site (KGA), especially with oncoming traffic. Accessibility had deteriorated noticeably following the demolition of a railway overpass over the Chemnitz-Mittweida railway line by Deutsche Bahn AG.
Remaining work on the railway tracks and landscaping work will then be completed by the end of June 2018. The construction work will cost a total of 80,000 euros.
The work is being carried out by the company Steinbach & Richter GbR from Lichtenau; the office Czock Ingenieure Planungsgesellschaft mbH from Chemnitz, which also provided the planning services, was commissioned with the local construction supervision.
