Expansion of Wilhelm-Busch-Straße (2nd BA) completed
2nd construction phase between Zschopauer Straße "alt" and Kleinolbersdorfer Straße in Chemnitz
The complex civil engineering work on Wilhelm-Busch-Straße between Zschopauer Straße (old) and Kleinolbersdorfer Straße has been completed, with the remaining work being carried out this week.
Since March 2016, the civil engineering department, the waste disposal company of the city of Chemnitz (ESC) and the utility company Eins have been working together to realise extensive construction measures. The ESC has replaced the previous combined sewer system, which was in great need of renewal, by constructing approx. 600 metres of new wastewater sewer and approx. 600 metres of rainwater sewer. The house connections were adapted to the new drainage system - the separate drainage of wastewater and rainwater.
Eins replaced the drinking water, gas, electrical supply and street lighting systems. A total of 255 metres of drinking water pipes and 660 metres of gas pipes were replaced. In addition, a new underground low-voltage cable and a new street lighting system were installed along the entire length. This means that the existing overhead lines can be replaced. Once the electricity connections in the private properties have been changed over, the overhead line masts will be dismantled and the kerbside installation in these areas will be completed.
Deutsche Telekom AG and Vodafone Kabel Deutschland GmbH also carried out cable laying work in the construction area.
After the media had been laid, the civil engineering department fundamentally expanded the road and redesigned the existing road space over a length of approx. 580 metres. In this context, a new pavement was built, the road drainage system was renewed and various adjustments were made to the private access roads and entrances.
The total construction costs amounted to approx. 1.6 million euros. Of this, around 550,000 euros were invested in road construction, 700,000 euros in sewer construction and 350,000 euros in utilities.
The company Dietmar Mothes GmbH from Chemnitz was commissioned with the realisation of the construction project.
