Exhibition "abstract-real-surreal" in the vhs-gallery
Invitation to the exhibition opening on 17 March 2016
The Chemnitz Adult Education Centre (VHS) is opening the exhibition "abstract-real-surreal" on Thursday, 17 March 2016 at 7 pm in the vhs-galerie, 4th floor of the TIETZ, Moritzstraße 20. The exhibition features 25 participants who have attended various art courses run by VHS lecturers Bernd Maischack, Claudia Antal and Ines Hildur. The participants are presenting a selection of 80 aryl, gouache, collage and mixed-media works. The exhibition can be seen in the vhs-galerie from 17 March to 23 September 2016, Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm and on Sundays and public holidays from 10 am to 6 pm. Admission is free.
Bernd Maischack formulates a specific theme for each new course, which course participants can devote themselves to during the semester. In the last two semesters, works were created on the themes of "Surréalité - Dream Worlds" and "The World of Opposites - How Contrasts Make Pictures Exciting".
In addition to many drawing and basic courses, the artist Claudia Antal offers the very successful course "Experimental acrylic painting from impasto to glazing". Here she encourages course participants to experiment with colours, paint application and abstraction.
Leipzig-based artist Ines Hildur, who teaches internationally, also offers courses with varying content. The themes take up certain colours and materials poetically. The course title of the works shown here was thus: "Flame Red and May Green Sound - Finding Colour"
