Exercise trail opens

Action by the "Healthy Chemnitz" working group on 15 July, 12 noon, Schloßstraße

On Wednesday 15 July at 12 noon, the newly created section of the exercise trail diagonally opposite the Schloßteichhalle (Schloßstraße/Theunertstraße) in Chemnitz will be opened. All sports enthusiasts are cordially invited to get to know this new facility for active exercise in the fresh air and, of course, to try it out right away.

Media representatives are also cordially invited to the opening.

The Chemnitz exercise trail is a modern outdoor sports facility with many options for individual and group training. It is accessible to anyone who wants to exercise in their free time and is a combined multi-generational space with elements of a fitness trail and a playground.

Since 2018, the Healthy Chemnitz working group has been working across the topics of exercise, growing up healthy, nutrition and a healthy environment and is shaping health-promoting processes in Chemnitz in a sustainable and target group-oriented manner. In the area of physical activity, this includes not only exercise programmes, but also the design of outdoor facilities that promote physical activity as part of urban development measures. Ute Spindler, Children and Youth Officer for the City of Chemnitz: "We are delighted to be able to offer the people of Chemnitz and our visitors another exercise programme after a construction period of around six weeks. We would also like to thank AOK PLUS for their financial and technical support during the construction of the facility."

Ute Jochmann from AOK PLUS hopes that all generations will make active use of the exercise trail: "Getting active outdoors close to the city centre is a great opportunity for residents. The AOK family study has shown that there must be attractive and user-friendly opportunities for exercise in the living environment in order to counteract the lack of exercise and the associated illnesses. By promoting such an exercise trail that is accessible to all generations, we as AOK PLUS are actively supporting health and counteracting social inequalities in health opportunities.
