Excess funds required for the 2018 winter road clearance service
At its meeting today, Chemnitz City Council approved the allocation of additional funds totalling around €1.1 million for winter services in 2018.
The City of Chemnitz concludes an annual service agreement with Abfallentsorgungs- und Stadtreinigungsbetrieb der Stadt Chemnitz (ASR) for the provision of winter services from 1 January to 31 December, among other things.
In 2018, a very high level of winter services was already required in the first quarter, such as the weather-related deployment of own staff with more working hours, the hiring of additional winter service employees and higher material consumption compared to the previous year.
The current calculations (prior to finalising all necessary bookings with the ASR and confirmation of the accounts by an auditor) result in total expenditure for the 2018 winter road clearance service of around EUR 3.3 million. This means that the specified budget was exceeded by around 1.1 million euros.
