Nancy Gibson chats with Tina Pulst and Antje Schneider. Music students from the choirs of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School will accompany her and sing. The youngest singers belong to the Vokalinchen. The young choir and the vocal ensemble will perform lively pieces. Susann Beyer will accompany them on the piano.

From Chemnitz: A piano chamber music concert with pupils from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School
Venue: Art Collections, Theatre Square 1

The concert will take place on a piano in the auditorium of the Art Collections on Theatre Square. You can hear works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Carl Friedrich Zelter, Johann Christian Bach and others.

Benefit concert "Chemnitz Early Start Parents' Association"
Venue: Concert hall of the Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1

The "Elternverein Chemnitzer Frühstarter" association for the support of families with prematurely born children was founded on 20 April 2010 by parents, paediatricians, paediatric nurses and interested parties who were looking to share their own experiences with others affected. Around 200 premature babies are born every year at Chemnitz Hospital alone.
In a colourful programme, music students play violins, oboe, guitar, cello, piano and vocals. The audience will be able to experience the joy of making music and will be encouraged to learn an instrument themselves. Nancy Gibson and Grit Bäßler will lead through the programme.

Mixed double trio - family concert by the Dresden composers' class

Venue: Concert Hall Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1

New chamber music for wind trio and string trio composed by children and young people. In the family concert of the Dresden Composers' Class, the sound collective Opus Eins under the direction of Milko Kersten will present 17 world premieres written by children and young people, including Stonehenge (Julius Balsukat), Zirkusstück (Elias Krauße), Der Wecker (Fanny Weber), Eine Lokomotivfahrt (Linda Korndörfer), Der Teufelsgeiger (Manuel Timme) and Sonnenuntergang (Lilly Bauer). Three wind instruments (clarinet, saxophone, trombone) and three strings (violin, viola, cello) perform in a wide variety of constellations. The eight to 19-year-olds composed their pieces under the guidance of Silke Fraikin, Johannes Korndörfer, Annette Schlünz and Bernd Schumann and rehearsed them together with the musicians. The conductor leads through the programme and introduces the young composers in short interviews. Performers Klangkollektiv Opus Eins: Daniel Rothe (clarinet), David Brand (saxophone), Johann Giesecke (trombone), Karina Müller (violin), Caronline Kersten (viola) and Ekaterina Gorynina (violoncello)
The overture of the programme will be performed by the young ensemble StreichHölzer of the Städtische Musikschule Chemnitz under the direction of Andreas Winkler.

You don't have to be able to read lyrics, see or touch sheet music or instruments or hear rhythm to make dreamlike music.
Young artists with and without disabilities, together with musicians from the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra, will once again create a dreamlike evening that symbolises dreams come true and also makes you dream. The integrative ensemble "Motus" from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School will once again be taking part.

In conversation: My first piano - wherever I go
On the occasion of the exhibition "From Chemnitz. A piano"
Venue: Art Collections, Theatre Square 1

Nancy Gibson, Head of the Municipal Music School, moderates the programme and conducts interviews with Ida Müller, long-time head of the piano department, and her students. We want to explore the significance of a piano in the home we grew up in, beyond its obvious role as a musical instrument. How does a piano in our environment influence the "tone" of our daily lives? What was made possible because we had a piano at home? How do we remember our first pianos?
Between the interviews, piano pieces will be played by the pupils. The discussion concert will take place on a piano in the auditorium of the Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz and is organised by the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.

Christmas carol singing at the TIETZ

Young soloists and choirs from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School will sing well-known and modern Advent and Christmas carols and put the audience in a festive mood. The audience is invited to sing along to some of the songs.
