MusiCollage Early Music

Small ensembles and soloists will play music composed before 1750. A trio with two recorders and violoncello is preparing for the Jugend musiziert competition in the "Early Music" category and will be heard for the first time at this concert.

Musikcafé Da Capo "From drama to chanson" with Matthias Bega
Venue: Hall, Kraftwerk e. V., Kaßbergstraße 36

Nancy Gibson chats with Matthias Bega, actor, chanson singer and consultant for music theatre at music schools. Matthias Bega successfully completed his acting studies at the "Hans Otto" Academy in Leipzig in 1992. He then had engagements in Landshut, Dortmund, Wiesbaden, Aachen and Weimar. Guest performances with children's concerts and chanson programmes have taken him all over Germany, the USA, Canada, Romania, China and Hungary. He has worked as a drama teacher for the Goethe Institute in Romania and Russia. Since 2007, he has been a consultant for music theatre at the "J. S. Bach" Music School in Leipzig and the LVdM Saxony. He is also involved in directing and project work at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig. He also works as a narrator for commercials and radio plays for film shoots for MDR, ZDF and arte.

Charity concert "Chemnitzer Frühstarter parents' association"
Venue: Concert hall of the municipal music school, Gerichtsstraße 1
Admission: free of charge
The "Elternverein Chemnitzer Frühstarter" association for the support of families with prematurely born children was founded in April 2010 by parents, paediatricians, paediatric nurses and interested parties who were looking to share their own experiences with others affected. Around 200 premature babies are born every year at Chemnitz Hospital alone.
In a colourful programme, music students can be heard playing the violin, oboe, guitar, recorder, horn, cello, piano and singing. The audience will be able to experience the joy of making music and will be encouraged to learn an instrument themselves.
Nancy Gibson and Grit Bäßler will lead through the programme.

MusiCollage Winds

Admission: free of charge
The wind instruments department presents itself in this concert and lets the wide variety of wind instruments such as trumpet, trombone, recorder, clarinet, flute, oboe, bassoon and horn be heard in a colourful musical mix.

Christmas concert by the early music education department

The youngest music students get us in the mood for a contemplative and joyful Advent season with well-known melodies. Children's ballet, little vocalists, pupils from the basic musical training programme and instrumentalists will perform a pre-Christmas concert together. St Nicholas is sure to drop by again...
