Events organised by the municipal music school in May 2019

Thursday, 2 May, 3 pm
DA CAPO - Musikcafé im Kraftwerk, piano music with bandleader Jakob Brenner

Venue: Kraftwerk e.V., Kaßbergstr. 36, 09112 Chemnitz
Admission: 6 euros (including coffee and cake)

Born in Regensburg, Jakob Brenner studied at the University of Music and Theatre in Munich. From 2013 to 2016, he was musical director at the Altmark Theatre in Stendal. In 2016, Jakob Brenner was hired as a repetiteur with conducting duties at the Chemnitz Opera and conducted several musicals and ballet evenings. At the start of the 2018/19 season, he was appointed Kapellmeister at Chemnitz Municipal Theatre. He took over the musical direction of new productions including "Die Zauberflöte" (W.A. Mozart), "Die weiße Rose" (U. Zimmermann) and "Der Teufel auf Erden" (F. v. Suppé).

Musicollage - wind instruments

Venue: Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Concert Hall, Gerichtsstraße 1
Admission: free

In this concert, the wind instruments department presents a musical mix of a wide variety of wind instruments such as trumpet, trombone, recorder, clarinet, flute, oboe, bassoon and horn. You will hear soloists and small chamber music groups.

Musicollage - Strings

Venue: Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Concert Hall, Gerichtsstraße 1
Admission: free

On this evening, pupils from the string instruments department will present themselves. Very young instrumentalists and experienced music students create a colourful programme with their various string instruments, from violin to double bass.

Amadé in spe - prizewinners and highly talented students introduce themselves

Venue: Villa Esche, Parkstraße 58
Admission: 12 euros, reduced 8 euros

With "Amadé in spe", the collaboration between the Sächsische Mozartgesellschaft e.V., The "Amadé in spe" concert series is a collaboration between the Saxon Mozart Society, the Chemnitz Municipal Music School and the Villa Esche, in which highly talented and specially sponsored music students and winners of the "Jugend musiziert" competition present their skills and continue to inspire young and old alike.

Concert Werner Richter on his 90th birthday

Venue: Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Concert Hall, Gerichtsstraße 1
Admission: free

Werner Richter would have been 90 years old on 16 May 2019. To mark the occasion, a major concert will be held in honour of the Chemnitz composer, who also taught accordion at the music school for many years. The event will provide an overview of the various facets of his compositional work. Works for accordion, accordion orchestra as well as vocal and chamber music will be performed.

Performers: the accordion orchestra "Akkordeonata Elbflorenz" from Dresden, the Huztholzchor from Chemnitz, guests from the Kreismusikschule des Landkreises Zwickau Clara Wieck and the Heinrich Schütz Konservatorium Dresden and students and teachers from the Städtische Musikschule Chemnitz

TIETZ paints!

Venue: TIETZ, stage in the foyer,
Admission: free

In a colourful musical round dance, the various string instruments will be heard: violin, viola, cello and double bass. Pupils play solo or in small groups and show off their skills. Let the young talents surprise you!

This concert features pupils from all departments of the Municipal Music School. From oboe to trumpet, from violin to double bass, a colourful and varied programme of old and new music will be performed.
