Da Capo - Music café "Looking forward to the 33rd Mozartfest 2024"

"DA CAPO - Music for Seniors" invites you to another edition of the music café in the large hall of Kraftwerk e. V. at Kaßbergstraße 36.
Nancy Gibson will talk to Sebastian Schilling about the 33rd Saxon Mozart Festival "WIRksamkeit". Some of the highlights of the Mozart Festival will be highlighted and the audience will learn lots of interesting facts about the concerts.
Music students from the Municipal Music School will provide the musical framework for the event.

Opening of the Chemnitz Museum Night at the TIETZ

This year's Museum Night will be opened on the forecourt in front of the TIETZ. This will be followed by festive and cheerful music from various floors of the TIETZ atrium under the motto "Let's celebrate". Ensembles from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School traditionally invite you to this concert and conjure up a smile on the faces of the audience with their programme.

Conclusion of the "Democratic Chemnitz reads!" campaign

Democratic Chemnitz will once again be reading from "burnt" literature and courageous texts from sunrise to sunset. This is the third time the event has been organised to commemorate the book burnings by the National Socialists in 1933. Chemnitz residents and guests of the city read in many voices and in many languages, at cultural and educational venues as well as in public spaces.
The finale of the event initiated by the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 will take place from 18:30 in the concert hall of the Municipal Music School. Highlights of the closing event will include smaller contributions by renowned musician and scientist Kolja Lessing.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Jewish families had a decisive influence on social, economic and cultural life in Chemnitz. The biographies of these people were closely intertwined with the growth and upturn of the city. The rule of the National Socialists then brought about a cruel caesura. Jewish citizens were persecuted and expelled. Only a few of them survived the Holocaust.
An evening under the motto "Auf Wiedersehen in Chemnitz!" is dedicated to selected stories of Jewish families who once had to flee from here. These families not only lost their homes and possessions, but in many cases also their relatives, who perished in the extermination camps. Some of the descendants of the second generation are now returning to Chemnitz for a reunion. "Auf Wiedersehen in Chemnitz!" seeks dialogue with them, talks about flight and (further) life and looks into the family archives.
The event will be held partly in English.
Funded by the Local Action Plan for Democracy, Tolerance and a Cosmopolitan Chemnitz, as part of the federal programme "Live Democracy!" by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth and the City of Chemnitz. A cooperative event organised by Buntmacher*innen e. V. with Weiterdenken - Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung Sachsen, the City of Chemnitz, the Chemnitz Municipal Music School and the Days of Jewish Culture.
