In this concert, students from all departments of the Municipal Music School present their competition programme for the state competition.

DA CAPO - music café at the Kraftwerk

Kerstin Randall and Jürgen Mutze love music and together they know how to inspire their audience. We were able to experience Kerstin Randall in Chemnitz as Susanna in "The Marriage of Figaro", as Adele in "Der Fledermaus" or as Mrs Meeker in "Funny Girl". She has been invited to guest performances in Berlin, Leipzig and Tokyo. The singer is characterised by her extraordinary versatility and variability.
Born in Vogtland, Jürgen Mutze sings operas, operettas and musicals. He received his wide-ranging vocal training in Weimar. Jürgen Mutze's favourite role is undoubtedly the Witch in Engelbert Humperdinck's opera "Hansel and Gretel".

Musicollage - accordion

Admission: free
The accordion is a keyboard instrument. But this concert explains how it differs from the piano. Pupils from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School play music from old and new times as soloists, in duets and also in larger groups.

Piano concert Moritz Ernst
Venue: Concert hall of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1

The pianist and harpsichordist Moritz Ernst is coming back to Chemnitz. He has been well known here since he first performed in 2008 at the Museum Gunzenhauser Kontext concerts for exhibitions, e.g. on Otto Dix on the harpsichord, at the Klangwerk concerts on the piano, and at the music school he gave concerts with new music.
Now, for the Chemnitz Days of Jewish Culture, he will play works by formerly ostracised Jewish composers on the piano: Viktor Ullmann, Artur Vincent Lourié, Walter Braunfels. But the audience will also be offered familiar pieces: Music by Joseph Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy - the latter too, it is hard to believe nowadays, was not allowed to be performed under National Socialism.
The event is a co-operation between the Days of Jewish Culture, the Municipal Music School and the Berlin-Chemnitz association 'musica suprimata'.

Musicollage - wind instruments
Venue: Concert hall of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1
Admission: free
This concert in the "Music Collage" series features various woodwind and brass instruments - from the trumpet to the tuba and from the flute to the saxophone. Pupils from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School play solo, with piano accompaniment or in groups, such as the recorder group "blockflott".

Piano workshop
Venue: Concert hall of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1
Admission: free
Particularly talented pupils from the keyboard department demonstrate their skills on the piano. Music from the classical and romantic periods will be performed by soloists and four hands.
