Events organised by the Municipal Music School in March

Instrument Day: See - Listen - Try it out
Venue: Music school, Gerichtsstraße 1
Admission: free of charge
Children, young people and adults interested in music are cordially invited to try out various instruments in the rooms of the Municipal Music School.
The various departments of the Municipal Music School present themselves at this annual information day. Everything from string instruments, wind instruments, keyboard instruments, plucked instruments, early music education to dance, rock-pop-jazz and singing will be represented. Teachers will open their classrooms throughout the building and give an insight into the special features of their instruments and answer questions.
On this day, there will also be "street music" in the corridors and a demonstration of various dances at 11.30 am.
Our student café will be open for refreshments and the administrative staff will be happy to answer any questions about enrolment at the music school.

DA CAPO music café - music for senior citizens
"From musicals to film music" with Lord Mayor Sven Schulze

DA CAPO - Music for Seniors invites you to another edition of the music café in the large hall of Kraftwerk e. V. Nancy Gibson will be chatting with Lord Mayor Sven Schulze.
The 52-year-old was born in Rochlitz and attended a grammar school in Chemnitz before studying at Chemnitz University of Technology. With a degree in business administration, he worked in various areas at Energieversorgung. He left the company in 2015 and became a local politician.
In an exciting and insightful chat between Nancy Gibson and Lord Mayor Sven Schulze, we will learn lots of interesting things about his favourite music. The conversation will be framed by well-known melodies.

Jugend musiziert state competition
Venue: Dresden
Admission: free of charge
The second round of this competition will take place in Dresden this year.
At the Chemnitz regional competition, 39 pupils from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School qualified for the state competition. To do so, they had to achieve at least 23 out of a possible 25 points. The young musicians took part in various categories, such as piano four-hands, guitar, wind instruments and others.
On the weekends of 8 to 10 March and 15 to 17 March, all the young artists from the individual regions of Saxony will meet in Dresden to compete in their skills. Particularly good players can qualify for the national competition.
