"What's going on at the adult education centre in the Capital of Culture year?"

Nancy Gibson welcomes Grit Bochmann, the director of the adult education centre, for an exciting interview and will ask her questions about her studies, her work abroad and her leading position at the adult education centre.
The adult education centre, which has stood for locality, togetherness and internationality for over 100 years, currently has around 15,000 course participants from around 70 countries and employs 380 course instructors from around 30 nations.
Emi Suzuki, pianist and teacher at the Municipal Music School and elsewhere, will accompany the event on the piano. The musician studied at the Tokyo College of Music and completed her studies at the Prague Conservatory. Her passion for music has already taken her on many concert tours as a soloist and chamber musician.

Concert of the Chemnitz Music Society

As part of the Capital of Culture year, the Chemnitz Music Society invites you to a concert. Works by composers such as Siegfried Thiele, Friedrich Goldmann, Thomas Stöß and Paul-Heinz Dittrich will be performed under the theme "Musical luminosity from Chemnitz and the surrounding area after 1945". Pupils and teachers from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School and ensemble 01 will perform.

Instrument day: see - hear - try out
Location: Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1
Admission: free of charge
Children, young people and adults interested in music are cordially invited to try out various instruments in the rooms of the Municipal Music School.
The various departments of the Municipal Music School present themselves at this annual information day. From string instruments, wind instruments, keyboard instruments, plucked instruments, early music education, to dance, rock-pop-jazz, singing and speech training, everything will be represented. Teachers will open their classrooms throughout the building and provide an insight into the special features of their instruments and answer questions.
At 10.30 a.m., 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. , the instruments of all departments will also be played on stage in mini-concerts in the concert hall.
There will also be a cake bazaar, the Friends' Association will present its work and the administrative staff will be happy to answer any questions about enrolment at the music school.

Piano Colours

As part of this year's Capital of Culture programme, the piano department of the Municipal Music School invites you to an extraordinary concert. Outstanding students will present a varied programme that includes both solo and multi-hand pieces for piano. The musicians will also demonstrate the multifaceted sound colours of the instrument in chamber music pieces, in which instruments from other departments will also be heard.

Jugend Musiziert - state competition
Venue: Concert hall - Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1
Admission: free of charge
The second round of the competition will take place this year in the cultural capital of Chemnitz. At the beginning of February, 48 of the 93 participants in the regional competition qualified for the state competition. To do so, they had to achieve at least 23 out of a possible 25 points. This year's categories include solo string instruments, solo accordion, solo percussion, pop vocals and vocal and instrumental ensembles.
On the weekends of 28 to 30 March and 4 to 6 April, all the young musicians from the individual regions of Saxony will meet in Chemnitz to compete in their skills. Particularly good players can qualify for the national competition in Wuppertal.
