Concert with Kolja Lessing and pupils
Venue: Concert hall - Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1
Admission: free of charge
Kolja Lessing will be playing the piano in this concert.
Pupils will play several pieces from the "Geigen-Krämchen" op. 55 by Krzystof Meyer.
This event is organised in cooperation with the Saxon Mozart Society.

Chemnitz masterclass with Kolja Lessing

This course is for string players, pianists and small chamber music groups. The participants will perform in the final concert on Sunday, 14 January at 4 pm.

Regional competition "Jugend musiziert"
The competition for Chemnitz is one of 170 regional competitions and takes place on 27 and 28 January in Chemnitz, Mittweida and Stollberg. It is the most traditional competition for promoting young musical talent in Germany and has been running for 60 years.
The Chemnitz regional competition includes the city of Chemnitz, the district of Central Saxony and the Erzgebirgskreis. The categories and venues as well as further information can be found at:
Jugend musiziert - Regional Competition - Chemnitz
In addition to the constructive, pedagogically valuable musical competition, Jugend musiziert emphasises the team concept and encounters: making music together, working together on works of musical literature from different genres and performing them in front of an audience as a meaningful community experience.
The pyramid-like structure of Jugend musiziert reflects the dual music education function of the competitions: the promotion of the general public at regional level and the identification and promotion of highly talented young musicians at national level. The state competitions are an indispensable part of Jugend musiziert as a link between the grassroots and the top and as a mediator of the closest follow-up support.
Every year, Jugend musiziert invites children and young people to compete in over 30 different categories. These categories rotate in a 3-year rhythm and thus promote chamber music - as you can only take part every three years as a soloist with the respective instrument, but in between in various ensemble constellations.
