Nancy Gibson, Director of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, will be in conversation with Chemnitz gallery owner Bernd Weise. The event is supported by the Rock, Pop, Jazz Department of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School.
The Weise Gallery has been presenting the work of contemporary artists since October 1990. Over the past 35 years, works by established and young artists worthy of support have been presented and sold in over 200 exhibitions. A stimulating discussion will provide interesting insights into the Weise Gallery.

New Year's concert

At the 9th New Year's Concert organised by the Chemnitz Rabenstein Lions Club, pupils from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School will perform together with young musicians from the music school on Thomas-Mann-Platz.
The children's choirs from both music schools will perform melodies from the musical "Drei Wünsche frei". A special text on the Capital of Culture will be performed to "Chattanooga Choo-Choo", written by choir director Antje Schneider. Of course, the scholarship holder, who will perform in a guitar duo, will not be missing. A special treat will be a concerto for bassoon by Antonio Vivaldi. The bassoon will be played by Tobias Seifert and he will be accompanied by the youth symphony orchestra.
A medley from "Swan Lake" by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky and George Frideric Handel's "Hallelujah" from the "Messiah" will be performed as a festive finale.

Chemnitz City Music School at the opening of the Capital of Culture Year 2025

The great ensembles of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School have been shining in our beautiful city for decades. We are very pleased to currently count 23 different ensembles. Many people of all ages and backgrounds enjoy making music together with us. They are led by professional teachers who put their heart and soul into their work and teach with great attention to detail.
It is a great honour for us to be able to present seven ensembles and talented soloists at the opening of the Capital of Culture 2025. We are particularly proud of our youngest string players, the Flitzebögen, who will be taking part. We will also be presenting several choirs that afternoon, including our Ukrainian choir and talented vocal soloists. Our rock band Rock'n'Strings, talented solo pianists and an impressive trumpet quartet will also be performing on this special day.
