In the February edition of the Musikcafé, Nancy Gibson, Director of the Municipal Music School, welcomes the qualified transport economist and author Stefan Tschök. After studying in Dresden, Tschök worked in transport until his retirement and discovered his passion for literature in the 1980s. He worked in various circles that dealt with literature in the "active form", including the "Circle of Writing Workers" at the Heckert Combine in what was then Karl-Marx-Stadt. Since then, he has regularly published aphorisms, short stories and novels. In his current book "Was? Chemnitz?!" he sheds light on the Capital of Culture and its challenges. He is also a member of the Chemnitz Film Nights programme advisory board and moderates events at C3 Chemnitzer Veranstaltungszentren GmbH. The Musikcafé will be musically enriched by the ensemble "Da Capo" under the direction of Matthias Gagelmann and piano soloist Cornelius Glanz.

"Viva la musica!"
Concert project by the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chemnitz Municipal Music School

"Viva la musica!" - "Long live the music!". The concert project, which has been taking place regularly since 2011, brings together pupils from the Municipal Music School and musicians from the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra to express their great passion for music.
The idea: young musicians learn from the professionals. And vice versa, the "old hands" can let themselves be infected by the enthusiasm and energy of the young musicians. After intensive rehearsal days during the winter holidays, the time has come again on 28 February!
In the first part of the concert, the various ensembles of the Municipal Music School will present themselves, including the Vokalinchen, the Flitzebogenorchester and the StreichHölzer.
Afterwards, the Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Chemnitz Young Choir, members of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra and five speakers from the Municipal Music School will perform the play "Helden auf dem Notenblatt".
In this story, Terz and Sekund travel across the sheet of music, cross seas of triplets, climb mountains of sound, solve riddles and even learn magic spells.
