Events organised by the Municipal Music School in February

Saturday and Sunday, 1 and 2 February
Regional competition "Jugend musiziert"
Venue: Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1
Admission: free of charge

The competition for Chemnitz is one of 170 regional competitions and will take place for the 62nd time from 1 to 2 February in Chemnitz, Annaberg, Schloss Schwarzenberg and Flöha.
It is the most traditional competition for the promotion of young musicians in Germany. The categories and venues can be found in the overview timetable. The Chemnitz regional competition includes the city of Chemnitz, the district of Central Saxony and the Erzgebirgskreis.

Jugend musiziert is a measure of cultural youth education recognised by the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs and anchored in the Federal Children and Youth Plan and has been held annually since 1964. The three-stage competition, which first invites entries at regional level, then to the state competitions and finally to the national competition, has a stimulating function: it increases the popularity of musical education programmes, arouses curiosity and interest, and motivates children and young people to get involved with music, make music together and achieve particularly artistic achievements through hard work. Anyone can take part in Jugend musiziert.

Under this motto, adult music students play together in various ensembles in concert.
You can hear a clarinet ensemble, the Orchestre Amante, which, as the name suggests, is an orchestra made up of music lovers. From violin to double bass, but also flute and piano, everyone will be there.
The ukulele ensemble under the direction of Ollipekka Määttä promises a very special sound.
The ensemble "Sing mit!" invites you to join in with its very name.
A group of percussionists will bring rhythm and vigour to the audience.
This event aims to encourage adults to start making music, and as a listener you will be able to experience the joy, a little excitement and above all fun of this colourful programme.
