On Thursday, 1 December, our music lovers can welcome music students from the Chemnitz Municipal Music School as guests at the music café. These are students who will be taking part in the "Jugend musiziert" music competition in 2023. They have already mastered solo performances at several events organised by the Municipal Music School. In an exciting and informative chat between Ms Nancy Gibson and the young artists, you will learn many interesting facts and experience impressive musical performances.

Christmas concert by the Municipal Music School
Venue: Carlowitz Congesscenter Chemnitz, Theaterstraße 3
Admission: 12 euros, reduced 8 euros
At the traditional Christmas concert of the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, ensembles and students from all subject areas perform and get the audience in the mood for the festive season. The Flitzebögenorchester and the choir open with the song "Es wird schon gleich dunkel". Josefine and Gabriel Lehmann play a lively boogie four-handed on the piano. The "Alte Musik Ensemble" plays a Christmas pastoral.
The youth symphony orchestra has invited Maximilian Zaunick (violin) and Arbah Manillah (percussion) as soloists. The percussionist Arba Manillah comes from Tanzania and is the 2021 Chemnitz Peace Prize winner.
The concert will be given a very special, contemplative and Christmassy setting by a short theatre piece performed by the Sprechspielerei. It is called "Lotta celebrates Christmas" (Claudia Kumpfe) and tells the story of Lotta, who is sad because her parents are very stressed at Christmas and start arguing When Lotta runs away, her neighbour, Mrs Pahlke, hears her crying in the stairwell. This is how little Lotta and the old woman meet and a closeness develops between the two, because Lotta has always wanted a grandma.
