Nancy Gibson will be chatting with Helmut "Joe" Sachse, a well-known jazz guitarist.

He studied guitar at the Weimar University of Music and was already on the road with various groups in the GDR. He played in a duo with Uwe Kropinski and later with Hannes and Conny Bauer and at numerous international festivals.

Workshop overcoming stage fright

The double bass player and coach Peter Fischer will demonstrate a special self-help technique that helps to deal better with stressful situations.

Peter Fischer (born 1964): Graduate orchestral musician, double bass; studied in Stuttgart and London. Engagements at the Schleswig-Holstein State Theatre, Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra and double bass player with the Robert Schumann Philharmonic Orchestra Chemnitz; hypnotherapeutic training and tapping techniques of energetic psychology with Dr Guido Kusak. Active as a performance coach since 2010.

The body is the stage of emotions (Antonio Damasio). Every artist can probably agree with this sentence immediately. But what happens when the stage of emotions disturbs us, prevents us from doing what we want to do? This phenomenon could best be described as disturbing stage fright, and probably everyone knows the feeling. "Both in my many years as an orchestral musician and as a musician in the musical and jazz sector, I have observed in myself and others that in stressful situations such as concerts, we are unable to show the potential that is actually there," says Peter Fischer.

This is exactly where the tapping technique comes in. This technique, also known as "emotional self-management", is virtually predestined for self-application by performing artists.

In Peter Fischer's seminars/workshops, participants learn all the basics of this emotional self-help technique so that they can carry it with them like a toolbox in the future and use it sensibly and effectively in stressful situations. The aim is therefore to bring about a tangible change in past stressful experiences during the workshop. The topic of stage fright/performance anxiety is often taboo as it is perceived as a weakness and makes you vulnerable. Dealing with the topic in a seminar opens up a view of the possibilities for dealing better with stress. Of course, everyone can only draw on their own resources and success is not guaranteed. But a performance in which you can show your full potential is an enjoyable experience and has an absolutely authentic effect.

Participants will learn useful information from saxophonist and entrepreneur Philipp Schoof on topics such as performing, tax law, costing and more.

Philipp Schoof (born 1988) developed an entrepreneurial spirit at an early age and founded his first band, a big band consisting almost exclusively of classical musicians, a year before leaving school.

After graduating from high school, he took private lessons with Tomasz Skulski during his civilian service to prepare for his studies at the Dresden University of Music. From 2009 to 2015, he studied baritone saxophone with Prof Finn Wiesner as his main subject. The music graduate also studied clarinet as a minor subject. In recent years, engagements have taken him to China, North America and Ecuador as well as throughout Europe, including Florence, Geneva, London, Madrid, Barcelona, Vienna, Amsterdam, Salzburg, Lucerne and Paris.

But that's not all: his large network and international experience quickly showed him that his training as a musician, coupled with a real entrepreneurial spirit, could help other musicians become just as successful. At the age of 27, he founded the artist placement agency Viviendo Music Consulting together with his former fellow student Marcel Schrenk (piano).

In his workshop, Philipp Schoof would like to actively involve the participants and pass on his knowledge of business forms, basic concepts of tax law, tax exemption, contracts and invoices as well as bookkeeping, GEMA, artists' social security and much more. Questions are welcome.
