Events organised by the municipal music school
On Wednesday, 13 May 2015 at 6 pm, the Municipal Music School will present a new teaching repertoire for the bassoonino as part of the "Musicollage" series. A smaller version has been created for pupils so that children can learn to play the special woodwind instrument bassoon at an early age. Until now, however, there has not been sufficient teaching material for the student instrument.
Stefan Balciunas, bassoon teacher at the Chemnitz Municipal Music School, asked the composer and horn player Christian W. Petersen to write suitable music for the Fagottino. Pfefferkorn Verlag will publish the resulting sheet music. On 13 May, the new work will be premiered by three music students and Fumiko Takano on the piano in the music school hall. Music students, parents and anyone interested in music are welcome to attend. Admission is free.
The Municipal Music School will also be presenting a Schubertiade in cooperation with the Chemnitz Music Society on Sunday, 17 May at 11 a.m. in the Renaissance Hall of the Schlossberg Museum. Piano teachers Gabriele Ratzmann and Jenny Mehlhorn-Taubner and singing teachers Nancy Gibson, Tina Pulst and Kerstin Randall will take the audience on a journey into the early Romantic period. Almost 200 years ago, Franz Schubert regularly met with friends, poets, musicians and art lovers to make music at home and socialise.
The Sunday morning programme includes stories, poems, piano music and songs. Admission costs 10 euros, 5 euros for schoolchildren. Tickets are available in advance at or at Chemnitzer Musikverein, Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße 7, 09111 Chemnitz.
