We are opening our doors for the Sprachencafé Chemnitz - an open, relaxed meeting format where people from different languages and backgrounds come together to talk, practise German and network.
As hosts, we are delighted to provide the space for this wonderful programme. The Language Café team is responsible for the organisation and content.

Are you new to the city or just fancy meeting new people? Do you like going to museums but don't want to go alone? Then come to the Blind Art Date at the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz! In this special format, you will immerse yourself in an exciting
world of art and experience an inspiring short guided tour through the current exhibition Utopia. The right to hope. We ask ourselves questions such as: "What gives you hope?", "If you could do any job in the world - what would it be?" or "What are you trying to change on a small scale in your everyday life?".
At the Blind Art Date, the museum space becomes a meeting place where you can get into conversation with other people interested in art - completely relaxed and without pressure.
After the tour, you can continue chatting and making new contacts over a free drink in the foyer in a relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for anyone who is open to new things and wants to share their enthusiasm for art!

Practical introduction to lithography - workshop

The workshop is part of the programme accompanying the exhibition Traces of Proximity. Käthe Kollwitz and contemporary photography. Kollwitz continually experimented with printmaking in order to depict her pictorial ideas powerfully and clearly, initially primarily in lithography. In this three-hour workshop, you will learn the technique of lithography under professional guidance. Lithography (ancient Greek lithos - stone; ancient Greek graphein - to carve, write) is a printing technique in which a stone can be used to print and reproduce both artistically and informatively.
The workshop is suitable for both beginners and advanced students.
The workshop is limited to a maximum of 6 people.

Digital media have become an integral part of our everyday lives - they inform, connect and make many things easier. At the same time, they present us with new challenges: constant accessibility, a flood of information, constant access to social media and the pressure to compare ourselves with others. At the same time, we are missing out on periods of relaxation that put a strain on our well-being. This event is dedicated to the question of how we can use digital media in a healthy and conscious way. We want to provide tips, scrutinise our own media use and develop strategies for the "right" use of digital media. In short, we want to sensitise people to digital well-being. We also want to take a look at the current communication culture on the internet and how you can protect yourself from falling victim to the infamous "doomscrolling".

During this tour of the exhibition, the artist Heidi Specker and students of the photography class at the Academy of Visual Arts (HGB) will provide personal insights into their work and the inspiration they have gained from studying the oeuvre of Käthe Kollwitz.
