Due to its intertextual references and its numerous contemporary allusions, for example to GDR conditions, Stefan Heym's novel "Ahasver", which is structured on three time levels, can no longer be fully understood by today's readers. Using the collections of material that Heym compiled for this novel, his preparatory work and his typescripts and manuscripts, literary scholars at Chemnitz University of Technology led by Professor Bernadette Malinowski, in cooperation with the Trier Centre for Digital Humanities, have succeeded in preparing a digital historical-critical and annotated edition and making it available to the public as a worldwide open access project. The speaker for this evening is research associate Tobias Frank. The project was funded by the German Research Foundation.
