"... tired of the eternal runaround around the bush": Stefan Heym's Collin
With Prof Dr Bernadette Malinowski (literary scholar, Chemnitz University of Technology) and PD Dr Christoph Grube (Germanist and speaker, Chemnitz University of Technology)
Venue: TIETZ, Stefan Heym Forum, 3rd floor, Moritzstraße 20
Admission: 3 euros, reduced 1.50 euros
"Collin", published in 1979 in West Germany, is a novel about the indelible presence of the past, about power and betrayal, about guilt and atonement, a, as Heym himself puts it: "a diabolical interweaving of fiction and fact".
The annotated reading will trace the exciting story of the novel's genesis, outline its drastic consequences and, above all, present the novel itself in its historical, autobiographical and ethical interrelationships. Scenes from the film adaptation of the novel of the same name will be included.
An event organised by the International Stefan Heym Society in cooperation with the Cultural Management of the City of Chemnitz.
