"Interference - Stefan Heym as a political publicist"
Reading and discussion with contemporary witness Heinfried Henniger
Venue: TIETZ, Neue Sächsische Galerie
Admission: 8 euros, reduced: 6 euros, tickets at the box office
"I think I've always led a double life, one as a poet and one as a journalist," Stefan Heym said about himself. His speeches, essays and interviews are reflections of a life in dramatic times. Heym spoke and wrote as he lived: fearless, non-conformist, brash, irreverent, not shying away from pathos, spiritedly demanding change, not mincing his words, and taking care of his dignity. His political "everyday literature" still seems astonishingly topical today.
As an editor and friend of Stefan Heym, Heinfried Henniger has helped launch and edited several selected volumes of Heym's journalism since the 1980s.
A joint event organised by the International Stefan Heym Society, the Neue Sächsische Galerie and the City of Chemnitz's cultural services.

BibLab-C: 3D printing - a brief introduction
Location: TIETZ, Central Library, BibLab-C, Maker area

"3D printing" - a constructive manufacturing process - is a buzzword on everyone's lips and is a topic that not only inspires industry, but also the centre of our society.
3D printers are more than simple CNC machines. Behind them lies an incredibly large cosmos: whether developments, experiments, repair culture, the open source scene or the maker movement.
The workshop is designed to give anyone interested a brief insight into this world. In the two hours, an overview of current technologies will be given, which will be illustrated using many interesting examples and an active 3D printer. In addition to explaining the current possibilities, an incentive will be offered to take a closer look at the topic.

Ulrike soon begins to break out of the confines and meets Gonzo, a punk who introduces her to the world of artists and writers, the non-conformists. When he is arrested by the Stasi, Ulrike is left to her own devices ... Exhibition: "But what remains ... - literature in the country"
Location: TIETZ, Central Library, Culture & Countries section
Admission: free
Germany is known as the nation of poets and thinkers, as hardly any other country can look back on such a long and multifaceted literary tradition. Homeland poets or cosmopolitans, political border crossers or conformists, national saints or insiders' tips, aesthetes or realists: the exhibition presents the diversity of the German literary landscape and brings together writers who have not only left their mark on their region, but have shone far beyond the country's borders.
The regional section provides an insight into the lives of selected authors from what is now Saxony, such as Lessing, Karl May, Erich Kästner, Christian Fürchtegott Gellert, Lene Voigt and Joachim Ringelnatz.
A travelling exhibition of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Literarischer Gesellschaften und Gedenkstätten (ALG).

Poems & Fables - Reading with Franz Dobler and Hans Brinkmann
Venue: TIETZ, Central Library, Event Hall
Admission: free, limited seating
The poems of the Augsburg writer and DJ Franz Dobler do not weave wreaths of metaphors, but are characterised by contradiction and humour, by emotion and harshness, by pain about the course of the world. One of the last wild runners in the German literary scene gets to the heart of the matter, shows poetic and political edge, spares nothing and no one, and least of all himself.
In his new book, Hans Brinkmann, writer and art critic from Chemnitz, tells of "the cuckoo, which is dying out because it divides labour" and "the hedgehog, which is a mythical creature". It bears the evocative title "Fable Book" and contains a series of stories that play with the genre. In doing so, he provides his readers with some puzzling material, and that is intentional.
A reading as part of the exhibition "Was bleibet aber ... - Literatur im Land".
