Musicologist Prof Dr Matthias Herrmann talks about the commemorative music for the destruction of Dresden 75 years ago by the Kreuzkantor and director of the famous Dresden Kreuzchor Rudolf Mauersberger.

Since winning the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize (2001) and the Leipzig Book Fair Prize (2010), Georg Klein has been one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary literature. The NZZ celebrated his novel "Miakro", published in 2018, as the "emergence of the cosmos from the substance of language". At the invitation of the Chair of Modern German and Comparative Literature at Chemnitz University of Technology in cooperation with Chemnitz City Library, Georg Klein will be reading a previously unpublished story with the promising title "Herzsturzbesinnung" as part of the "Literature and Knowledge" series.

Holiday campaign Reading hits for holiday kids
To mark the start of the winter holidays, the district libraries in the Vita-Center, Yorckgebiet, Einsiedel and Wittgensdorf are once again offering holiday reading in the form of surprise packages under the motto "Reading hits for holiday kids" for all primary and secondary school pupils with a library card. We have packed handy packages with two books each. The reading fun is sweetened with a little snack. The books can be borrowed free of charge and can be borrowed within the usual loan period of four weeks.
