In the March edition of the music café, Nancy Gibson, head of the municipal music school, welcomes Andreas Bochmann. The musician plays guitar and sings rock and country classics. His distinctive voice is reminiscent of pop and country star Tom Astor. Some guests of the Da Capo Musikcafé already had the opportunity to experience Andreas Bochmann together with Nancy Gibson in the Musikcafé last year on 6 March 2025. They enchanted the audience with the classic "500 Miles". Andreas Bochmann can look back on a varied career. At the age of 72, he not only has experience, but also a remarkable range of talents: He was a theatre technician, dispatch manager and print technician. He was also an active member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR. In 1996, he took on the role of press spokesman for the city of Chemnitz and also became deputy head of Tietz.

Prizewinners' concert regional competition "Jugend Musiziert 2026"

On Sunday, 8 March, the prizewinners' concert of the regional competition "Jugend Musiziert 2026" will take place in the concert hall of the Municipal Music School. The most successful entries from the previous competition will be presented once again.
Admission is free and all music lovers are cordially invited to a colourful afternoon with many talented students.

Instrument day: see - hear - try out
Location: Chemnitz Municipal Music School, Gerichtsstraße 1
Admission: free of charge
The various departments of the Municipal Music School present themselves at this annual information day. Children, young people and adults interested in music are cordially invited to try out various instruments in the rooms of the Municipal Music School. From string instruments, wind instruments, keyboard instruments, plucked instruments, percussion, early music education to dance, rock-pop-jazz, singing and speech training, everything will be represented. Teachers will open their classrooms throughout the building and provide an insight into the special features of their instruments and answer questions.
At 10.30 a.m., 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., the instruments of all departments will also be played on stage in mini-concerts in the concert hall.
There will also be a cake bazaar, the Friends' Association will be presenting its work and the administrative staff will be happy to answer any questions about enrolment at the music school.
