Events organised by the Capital of Culture Office in September 2017

1 September, 2 to 6 p.m. - Capital of Culture // Living room tour at the IBUg
Location: SPEMAFA (former VEB Spezialmaschinenfabrik), Lerchenstraße 12, 09111 Chemnitz

The Kulturwohnzimmer will be stopping off at the IBUg 2017 on its tour of the Chemnitz festival landscape. Talk and discuss with Chemnitz cultural professionals, people interested in culture and the staff of the Capital of Culture Office about Chemnitz as a city of culture, its cultural opportunities and special features. Share your thoughts and ideas.

6 September, 5 to 7 p.m. - Capital of Culture // Rosenhof evening "City and Culture"

What is a city really? What characterises it and how can history, culture and society be read in it? What fascinates us about some historic city centres? And what does a city do to us, how does it shape our everyday lives? We would like to explore these and other questions on an exciting journey through European urban culture - open air in the Rosenhof, experts will share interesting facts about the city. In a relaxed atmosphere with music and culinary delights, you can discuss or simply enjoy the city together. The event is part of Chemnitz's bid to become European Capital of Culture 2025 and serves to provide information and exchange ideas about Chemnitz's urban culture.

10 September, 2 to 5 p.m. - Capital of Culture // City walk through the city centre and Brühl
Meeting point: TIETZ forecourt, Reitbahnstraße

Read Chemnitz! Join us on exciting city walks and learn more about Chemnitz's architecture and urban development. Read the city together with us, understand how and why individual urban spaces and neighbourhoods have developed in this way and then join in the discussion as to whether their design still meets our needs today.

In three city walks we will explore the city centre, Sonnenberg, Schloßchemnitz and Kaßberg, each with a stop in the respective neighbourhood and enough time for joint discussion. The aim is to understand the city and discuss possible ideas for future urban development - also as a contribution to Chemnitz's bid to become Capital of Culture 2025.

16 September, 12 to 6 p.m. - Capital of Culture // Living room tour for the opening of the Intercultural Weeks
Location: Neumarkt Chemnitz

The Kulturwohnzimmer will be stopping off at Neumarkt on its tour of the Chemnitz festival landscape to mark the opening of the Intercultural Weeks. Talk and discuss Chemnitz as a city of culture, its cultural opportunities and special features with Chemnitz cultural professionals, people interested in culture and the staff of the Capital of Culture Office.
