Corresponding to the period of the First World War from 1 August 1914 to 11 November 1918, the Schlossberg Museum, in cooperation with the Department of Romance Cultural Studies at Chemnitz University of Technology, will be showing the following photographs every month until November 2018 as part of the project

Film and discussion with Chemnitz filmmaker Beate Kunath.
In nine personal portraits, Beate Kunath traces the lives of women from the twin towns of her home city of Chemnitz. What connects the women from Finland, Russia, China, France and the USA, among others, is their shared birthday on 18 September 1967 - a worthwhile mosaic of global female biographies.

Reading: Ines Geipel, Generation Wall
The "children of the Wall" born in East Germany in the 1960s were young enough to conquer the world from 1989 onwards - a happy generation? Writer Ines Geipel seeks to trace the biography of her generation in a dialogue between personal fate and current research.
Ines Geipel, born in Dresden in 1960, spent six years as a top athlete in the GDR. After studying German language and literature in Jena, she fled to West Germany in 1989 and studied philosophy and sociology in Darmstadt. In 2000, she was a co-plaintiff in the trial against the masterminds of forced doping in the GDR. Today she is a professor of verse at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts and works at the Hannah Arendt Institute.

Jochen Schmidt reads from Instructions for East Germany
Jochen Schmidt travels through the federal states of the East, which are still uncharted territory for many Germans. To change this, he visits the space exhibition in the hometown of the first German in space. He explores national reconstruction projects such as the Rostock seaport. And searches for the head of a buried Lenin statue in Köpenick Forest. He explores the evidence of "Eastern Modernism", pays tribute to people's talent for improvisation and listens to their stories. A clever guide for anyone who wants to discover the East or who likes to remember it.
Jochen Schmidt was born in Berlin in 1970 and studied computer science, German and Romance studies there. In 1999, he co-founded the Berlin reading theatre "Chaussee der Enthusiasten". He is a translator and author, including the novel "Müller haut uns raus" and the volumes "Triumphgemüse", "Meine wichtigsten Körperfunktionen", "Schmidt liest Proust" and "Schneckenmühle".

Read aloud: On quiet soles... Stories to listen to
read aloud for everyone with keen ears
When you are invited to the event "Auf leisen Sohlen..." in the city library,you have to be very quiet and prick up your ears, because the reading mentors come to visit and read out exciting stories. They take both young and older listeners into colourful fantasy worlds with great pleasure. The literature-loving readers read the latest children's books, classics, "bestsellers" from their own childhood or even texts they have written themselves in the atmospheric reading tent in the children's world.
