All the best! Literary-musical bouquet of flowers for the 150th anniversary of the city library and 25th anniversary of the Pushkin Club

A literary-musical bouquet of flowers to mark the 150th anniversary of the City Library and the 25th anniversary of the Pushkin Club, created by Chemnitz artists who have accompanied us throughout the years.
They will be joined by Svetlana Katshur, Tatjana and Markus Funk, Olga Shajevytch, Galina Lunjeva and members of the Pushkin Club.

"Dance on the volcano"

A staged reading with texts from the time of the Weimar Republic.
Venue: TIETZ, central library, event hall
Admission: free
Ulrike Euen and Martin Esser (Chemnitz Theatre) will perform excerpts from works by Thomas Mann, Carl von Ossietzky, Kurt Hiller, Erich Mühsam, Hermann Hesse and other writers. The reading will take place as part of a conference at the Technical University entitled "The Weimar Republic as a place for the history of democracy". We take an unbiased look at the first German republic and want to facilitate a broad dialogue on democracy.

The crooked fairytale trio with Paul Maar, Wolfgang Stute and Konrad Haas

Paul Maar is one of Germany's best-known children's book authors and the author of the books "Am Samstag kam das Sams". His imagination and language skills lend wings to classic fairy tale motifs in a whimsical, ironic and humorous way. His stories appeal to adults and children alike and have done so for many years. Paul Maar now presents these quirky fairy tales live together with two well-known musicians: guitarist and percussionist Wolfgang Stute and all-round musician Konrad Haas, who plays the flute, saxophone and keyboard.

Specialised work consultation hour for students

We help with research in library catalogues and online databases and offer free self-help for effective research. Registration is required, stating the topic of the research paper, by phone: 0371 488-4222, by e-mail: facharbeit(at)stadtbibliothek-chemnitz.de or in person at the library.

Read aloud

On quiet soles... Stories to listen to
read aloud for anyone with keen ears

Our reading mentors take both young and older listeners into colourful fantasy worlds with great pleasure. They read the latest children's books, classics, "bestsellers" from their own childhood or even texts they have written themselves in the atmospheric reading tent in the children's world. Admission to the reading sessions is free.
