Public Tuesday tour: New ideas, different experiences, lasting impressions - freshly enamoured with the new Museum für Naturkunde Chemnitz
Research results in exhibitions and exhibitions give rise to research. The permanent exhibition at the Museum für Naturkunde Chemnitz is now over 15 years old and the research results of recent years on the Petrified Forest need new space. During a guided tour of the museum with Dr Thorid Zierold, you will find out what the redesign of the museum will look like.

The geological taxidermist (public guided tour for children and young people)
No, a taxidermist is not a dinosaur! After travelling back in time to the Permian period, you will learn how we prepare our finds, what scientists do with them and when an object actually ends up in the museum. Finally, you will become geological taxidermists yourselves.

Whether in the forest, in the field or in the city - birds are an integral part of our lives. We try our hand at identifying different bird species, listen to their songs and learn about the diversity of bird nests.

Together we will embark on a journey to the Chemnitz Petrified Forest. How is a fossil actually formed, when did it once live and how did we discover it in the centre of Chemnitz? We will find answers to these questions together.
