Andreas Schmidt-Schaller, Klare Ansage - Bekundungen und Bekenntnisse
Reading and discussion
Moderated by Frank Karbstein
He is Germany's long-serving TV detective. As early as the 1980s, he appeared as Lieutenant Grawe in "Polizeiruf 110" and since 2001 in the role of Inspector Hajo Trautzschke in "SOKO Leipzig". The versatile actor has been performing at various theatres, directing films and working in television productions for decades. On his 70th birthday last autumn, the actor wrote his autobiography.

Exhibition: 14-18 WAR WAS | Bildwechsel with informative vernissage
Corresponding to the period of the First World War from 1914 to 1918, the Schlossberg Museum, in cooperation with the Department of Romance Cultural Studies/TU Chemnitz, is showing a photograph from its collection of historical images of the war events every month as part of the "14-18 WAR WAS" project.
The change of images will be accompanied by a short introduction and a free lecture.

Wolfgang Grenz, Schiffbruch - Das Versagen der europäischen Flüchtlingspolitik (Shipwreck - The Failure of European Refugee Policy)
Ever since the accidents off Lampedusa in autumn 2013, in which over six hundred refugees died, it has been clear that European refugee policy has failed. The governments of the European Union have actually agreed to create a common asylum system. But while Europe's internal borders are falling, its external borders are becoming impermeable. Those who nevertheless make it to Europe often face a poor asylum procedure and unacceptable living conditions - including in Germany.
Wolfgang Grenz worked full-time for Amnesty International from 1979 to 2013, most recently as Secretary General of Amnesty International Germany. He is a founding member of Pro Asyl and a board member of UNO-Flüchtlingshilfe.

Reading: Feridun Zaimoglu, Siebentürmeviertel
Feridun Zaimoglu takes his readers to Istanbul in the 1930s and into the centre of a strange and fascinating world in which a German boy has to assert himself. A special kind of family saga, emotionally charged, profound and exciting.
Feridun Zaimoglu, born in 1964 in Bolu, has lived in Germany for around 45 years. He was a columnist for ZEITmagazin and writes for Die Welt, Frankfurter Rundschau, Die Zeit and FAZ.

André Biakowski, Obiad - Mehr als nur Mittagessen.
André Biakowski (born 1980) lived in the Polish city of Łódź in 2009/2010, where he worked as a volunteer for the Maximilian-Kolbe-Werk. One of his tasks was to take lunch (Polish: Obiad) home to the elderly and often frail Polish survivors of various ghettos and concentration camps. These contacts allowed him deep insights behind the scenes of this painful part of German-Polish history. However, he soon realised that the neighbouring country could not be reduced to its history. He therefore travelled a lot through Poland and increasingly got to know and love this country.
The songwriter ION will accompany his reading with music.

John von Düffel, KL - Talk about immortality
Who is looking at us? And what does that make of us? One person who should know is the famous fashion designer KL, an icon of aloofness who has not seemed to age for decades and always looks the same. An unnamed narrator travels to Paris to talk to KL about appearance and reality, about death and life as an entity that has become an image. "KL - Gespräch über die Unsterblichkeit" is the fiction of an interview with a person who in reality seems to be a fiction of himself. An original literary game that offers surprising insights.
John von Düffel was born in Göttingen in 1966. He works as a dramaturge at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and is Professor of Scenic Writing at the Berlin University of the Arts.

Chemnitzer Köpfe: Addi Jacobi on his 80th birthday
Matinee with spoken and visual contributions from friends and companions
The event commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Chemnitz journalist and publicist Addi Jacobi.
Without him, many things would have been forgotten forever. Every year on 5 March, Jacobi held a matinee to commemorate the night of the bombing in Chemnitz in 1945. He also founded Chemnitz's commemoration of the dead on Remembrance Day. He was a member of the table for the preservation of local history and monuments and the initiator of the series "One hour of local history". From 1992 onwards, his "Ratsgewürfeltes" ("Council's Dice") could be read in the city magazine "Stadtstreicher". His monthly event series "Chemnitzer Köpfe" in the city library was legendary, where he introduced over 200 Chemnitz personalities from politics, business and culture.
His friend, the film composer Peter Gotthardt, will provide the musical backdrop

Marion Brasch, The Erroneous Adventures of Mr Godot
Godot experiences strange adventures: after surviving a severe storm and the fall of values, he meets Father Christmas, spends a surreal night in a department store and shortly afterwards loses his voice, which he hopes to find again with the dangerous shredder. He makes the acquaintance of the young Hermann Hesse, who is currently suffering from writer's block, and meets the spoilt lacquer monkey and a strange fish catcher. And incidentally, the secret of the world formula is also revealed.
Marion Brasch worked as a music editor at the youth radio station "DT64" from 1987 and is now a freelance radio journalist and presenter at "radioeins" (RBB). Her first novel "Ab jetzt ist Ruhe" was published in 2012.

Kati Naumann, Die große weite Welt der Mimi Balu
with musical accompaniment by the Mimi Balu Trio
Mimi is on the verge of an international breakthrough as a singer. She is highly talented, extremely photogenic and has made it all the way from her Saxon birthplace of Limbach-Oberfrohna to London. Nothing is further from Mimi's mind than the thought of her homeland, but that is exactly where she has to return. Will this journey deprive Mimi, who is inexorably approaching forty, of the chance of the career as a world star she has been longing for?
The Mimi Balu Trio will provide the musical backdrop to the journey from Limbach-Oberfrohna to London with a rare mixture of BritPop and German hits from the 1960s.
Kati Naumann lives with her family in Leipzig and London. She has written poems and lyrical texts for rock bands and various artists. Her successful musical "Elixier" (music by "Prince" Tobias Künzel), which premiered at the Leipzig Opera, was described by Der Spiegel as the "Eastside Story from Bitterfeld".

Linda Zervakis, Queen of the Colourful Bag - Stories from the Kiosk
The way Linda Zervakis looks into the nation's living rooms today is the way she used to look out of her parents' kiosk. What did she see there? "People ordering herbal schnapps for breakfast". And of course: good, friendly people who look after each other in their neighbourhood and have been buying their Roth handbags, Dickmanns-Frischebox and colourful bags from the Zervakis family for 20 years. Linda was lucky, had a good school and the determination not to look out of the shop forever. The rest is her story.
Linda Zervakis, 39, was born in Hamburg to Greek parents. After leaving school, she worked as a copywriter at the renowned BBDO agency. She has worked as an editor and newsreader for NDR since 2001. Since May 2013, she has been speaking for the ARD news programme at 8pm.

The regional literary scene presents itself with a large book market centred around the petrified forest. There will also be a varied literary programme, games and hands-on activities for the whole family as well as live music.

Armin Kiefer, a German biologist, is working with others on a nature conservation project in Madagascar. However, the planned creation of a conservation corridor meets with resistance. When unrest breaks out in the country, the situation comes to a head. After a terrible storm, a decision is made ...
Dr Bernd-Jürgen Seitz, born in Schwäbisch-Hall in 1955, studied biology in Freiburg. In his diploma thesis and doctorate, he researched the relationship between vegetation and birdlife in the cultural landscape. Dr Seitz works as Head of the Nature Conservation and Landscape Management Department at the Freiburg Regional Council.

Clemens Meyer & Claudius Nießen, Zwei Himmelhunde
The show about the book from the film
Clemens Meyer and Claudius Nießen took a risk: they spent a year plundering old VHS archives, dismantling DVD collections, neglecting their social lives and watching their way through a mountain of crazy films. But they had to do what they had to do. They are two tough guys. They are like two peas in a pod and perhaps also the right and left hand of the devil. But above all, the two of them are unstoppable.
Clemens Meyer, born 1977 in Halle/Saale, lives in Leipzig. His debut novel "Als wir träumten" was published in 2006 and most recently the novel "Im Stein".
Claudius Nießen, born in Aachen in 1980, studied at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig. He develops literary events (including Turboprop Literatur). He has been managing director of the DLL since 2008.

read aloud for everyone with keen ears
When you are invited to the event "Auf leisen Sohlen..." in the city library, you have to be very quiet and prick up your ears, because the reading mentors come to visit and read out exciting stories. They take both young and older listeners into colourful fantasy worlds with great pleasure. The literature-loving readers read the latest children's books, classics, "bestsellers" from their own childhood or even texts they have written themselves in the atmospheric reading tent in the children's world.
